was born in Cologne in 1958 and today numbers among the most highly regarded concert guitarists of the younger generation. The legendary old master Andrés Segovia, serving as the president of the jury, awarded Bungarten the first prize at the International Guitar Competition in Granada held in his honor. Since then Bungarten has presented his extensive repertoire in concert in many countries throughout the world. Bungarten teaches a guitar class at the Academy of Music and Drama in Hanover and at the Lucerne Conservatory and offers master classes on the international level.
